Chetan Singh Rakieten, a photojournalist with Rochester’s WROC-TV (Channel 8), said he has endured stares and outright discrimination in the past because he wears a turban.
Although Rakieten is bound by the Sikh religion to keep his hair uncut and to wear a turban as a head covering, a soccer referee once told him he could not play with it on, and the photojournalist was once told by a judge that he could not wear what the judge called a hat” in a courtroom. Read more“
